Position Summary:
The Accessibility Coordinator is responsible for coordinating both academic and campus wide accommodations for students with disabilities. The incumbent is required to be in contact with EKU offices and off campus entities in order to meet the needs of students with disabilities. The incumbent is also required to inform the campus and community of issues related to disabilities and of the services of the Center for Student Accessibility through publications, presentations, or other means.

Minimum Education:
Bachelor’s Degree is required in Rehabilitation Counseling, Psychology, Education or related field. Master’s Degree Preferred.

Minimum Experience:
At least one year of experience required in the following areas.
  • Experience in analyzing psychological-educational evaluations, medical records, audiograms, and neurological reports, in order to determine the appropriate academic adjustments, and campus wide accommodations for students with varied disabilities; including but not limited to Deaf and Hard of Hearing individuals, students with visual impairments, learning differences, mental health issues.
  • Knowledge of ADA law; federal, state, and local and implementation thereof
  • Knowledge of developing academic skills in college students with varied disabilities
  • Knowledge in the area of assistive technology, use of auxiliary aids, and software available to post-secondary students with disabilities
  • Working knowledge of fundamental concepts in regard to disability in higher education,
  • Case management

Job Functions:
Provide assistance and customer service to college students with disabilities.
Coordinate and collaborate with EKU offices and other off campus entities to plan events/activities and to provide needed services to students with disabilities.
Ensure the effective operations of the department and the university by performing other duties as required or requested.
