Position: Full-Time Lecturer and Outbac Challenge Course Coordinator
Effective date: January 22, 2024 or August 19, 2024 (1-Year Appointment/2-Semesters, Renewable)
Salary: The Lecturer (Academic Year) classification salary is $5,405 to $11,994/per month (12 monthly payments per academic year). The anticipated hiring range is $5,800 to $6,200/per month. Salary offered is commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Required Qualifications:
  • M.A. or M.S. in Recreation, Adventure Education, Outdoor Education or related discipline [Candidates working toward completion of a master's degree will be considered as long as official notification of completion of the master's degree can be provided by January 1, 2024 (for Spring semester start) or August 1, 2024 (for Fall semester start)]
  • B.A. or B.S. in Recreation, parks, tourism or a related discipline
  • Specialization in challenge course facilitation and management
  • Demonstrated potential for teaching excellence
  • Demonstrated commitment to working successfully with a diverse student population

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Demonstrated experience in teaching or training excellence at the college or professional levelExperience working successfully with a diverse student population
  • Demonstrated commitment to/experience of student mentorship
  • At least two years of challenge course facilitation experience
  • Hold an Association of Challenge Course Technology (ACCT) Level II or equivalent certification Wilderness First Aid and CPR (or higher)

  • Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in teamwork and group dynamics, facilitation, outdoor education. [Mode of instruction may include in-person, hybrid, online, and/or any combination thereof. Mode of instruction is primarily in-person, but may include hybrid.]
  • Manage the CSULB Outbac low elements challenge course operations
  • Generate internal and external group reservations Facilitate Outbac experiences for internal/external group reservations
  • Develop relationships with internal and external partners to further Outbac operations and reservations
  • Manage Outbac inspection and maintenance
  • Participate in service to the school, college, university, profession, and community
