Position Summary:
The Learning and Development Designer provides technical assistance and consultation to subject matter experts, writes and develops training curricula, and provides training for train the trainer events, as well as programmatic training in the area of Child and Adult Protection Services.

Minimum Education:
Bachelor’s degree in related field required.


Minimum Experience:
Three year’s work experience required in the area of curriculum layout and design, adult learning theory, and professional training presentations. Preference will be given to candidates with additional experience in the area of child protection.

  • Superior critical thinking, problem-solving, and research skills
  • Thorough understanding of project management
  • Self-motivated to continue learning on advanced and/or updated technologies to support online learning and blended education
  • Knowledge of instructional design principles including ADA compliance and standards
  • Experience providing professional development
  • Skilled in using web and media based technologies tools to support blended and online learning
  • Knowledge of Learning Management Systems
  • Quick learner, specifically as it relates to computers and computer applications
  • Excellent presentation skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to work in a fast paced technical environment with tight deadlines


Job Functions:
Develops curricula and trainings as needed by the Cabinet for Health and Family Services’ Department of Community Based Services in the area of Child Protection Services and Adult Protective Services.
Consults subject matter experts, conducts research and ensures quality and efficiency in the curriculum development process.
Provides customer service and administrative support by maintaining appropriate files and records and monitors correspondence for accuracy and conformity with policies and procedures.
Other duties as assigned.

Special Instructions Summary:
The Training Resource Center (TRC) provides Administrative and Training Support Services to the Department for Community Based Services. The funding is in whole or part from federal, CHFS or other state funds and subject to annual renewal. This is a contract EKU position in which the office location will depend upon the location of the candidate chosen. Remote work is a possibility.
