    Job Summary

    The Department of Political Science at the University of Texas at Tyler invites applications for a tenure track Assistant or Associate Professor position specializing in American politics. The successful candidate will teach courses on Campaign Politics, Congress, and Research Methods and will be responsible for the Center for Public Opinion Research, an in-house polling center, whose results have been published state and nationwide in the past. The successful candidate will join an academically vibrant community, making impactful contributions to teaching, research, and community service.

    Review of applications begins the week of October 30, 2023, and will continue until the position is filled.





    Essential Functions

    Duties include, but are not limited to:
  • 3/3 course load at the undergraduate and graduate level with a possibility of release times for running the Center for Public Opinion Research.
  • Maintain a record of research.
  • Advise students.
  • Serve the department, college, and university.



Required Qualifications
  • Ph.D. in Political Science

Additional Information

The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length. This position has the option to elect the Optional Retirement Program (ORP) instead of TRS, subject to the position being 40 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.

This position is security-sensitive and subject to Texas Education Code Section 51.215, which authorizes the employer to obtain criminal history record information. Applicants selected must be able to show proof of eligibility to work in the United States by time of hire.
