Purpose of Position

To provide administrative assistance and support for community engagement and experiential learning. Includes general secretarial duties, budget maintenance for the office, web support, and event support.

Primary Responsibilities

The general duties for position include:
  • Answering the telephones
  • Greeting visitors
  • Scheduling appointments
  • Handling office correspondence
  • Assisting in monitoring budgets including tracking, including completing monthly budget reports
  • Processing budget/payments in NKU’s enterprise system ( SAP )
  • Ordering and maintaining office supplies
  • Opening and distributing the mail
  • Establishing and maintaining the office files
  • Arranging travel (reservations, registrations etc.)
  • Assisting in updating experiential learning websites
  • Event support
Working with the supervision to maintain budgets is a key duty and includes these specifics:
  • Maintaining the office budget and reconciling monthly statements
  • Processing purchase orders, travel authorizations, copy center requests, printing services requests and budget transfers
  • Provide occasional assistance to the Assistant Provost for presentations, events, workshops, etc.
The ideal candidate for this job is someone who enjoys a variety of tasks and wants to work on a dynamic team.

While the primary purpose of this job is office-oriented and operational, it is also an opportunity to be part of NKU’s community stewardship mission fostering public dialogue on current events and issues, encouraging public engagement on campus, and in the community, and supporting staff working with students in experiential learning.


High school diploma and 2 years of related experience required. Higher education degree helpful but no required.

Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint).

Experience working with nonprofits and/or event planning.

Any candidate chosen for this position will be required to undergo a pre-employment criminal background check as mandated by state law.
