Director of Didactic Education: Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies Program

 

Drury University, in partnership with the national search firm, Scott Healy & Associates, is seeking a Director of Didactic Education for their Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies (MPAS) program. The MPAS program is slated to begin in August, 2023, and will be the first graduate healthcare program among several planned within the newly established School of Health Sciences at Drury. Reporting to the Founding Program Director, the Director of Didactic Education will be student-centered and have a passion for developing a dynamic didactic program.  Drury is seeking an individual who loves educating students, enjoys the educational process, and works well in a team-oriented environment.

 

The candidate chosen will be responsible for oversight of all aspects of the didactic phase of the physician assistant program, and provide effective leadership toward meeting program and student learning outcomes.  The Director of Didactic Education will work to ensure the program‘s didactic phase follows all ARC-PA accreditation standards pertaining to didactic training.

Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree as a Physician Assistant from an ARC-PA accredited program;
  • Current NCCPA Certification;
  • Eligible for Missouri state licensure as a PA;
  • Three (3) years academic experience (preferred);
  • 3 – 5 years clinical experience (required);
  • Experience in PA/medical classroom teaching;
  • Experience in PA education administration (highly preferred);
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
  • Strong interpersonal skills with student and staff populations.

 

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Creating and developing a dynamic curriculum for the academic year;
  • Preparing syllabi consistent with the program mission;
  • Directing didactic program delivery which includes creating and maintaining the didactic year schedule;
  • Course coordination and classroom teaching;
  • Working with faculty to ensure compliance with educational objectives and academic rigor;
  • Recruiting and scheduling of adjunct faculty for didactic courses;
  • Directing and leading test preparation and examination delivery;
  • Advising student academic and professional development;
  • Assisting with data collection and analysis to support the ARC-PA self-assessment;
  • Assisting in the continuous review and compliance of the ARC-PA accreditation process;
  • Serving on committees such as the curriculum committee and academic performance committee;
  • Participating in the admissions process.
