Job Summary/Basic Functions

Eastern Kentucky University's School of Justice Studies invites applications for a full-time nontenure track lecturer position in Police Studies starting January 2024. The area of expertise is open, but preference will be given to applicants who can teach a variety of both core and elective classes in the Police Studies degree, as well as those who have experience in either local, state, or federal law enforcement. Examples of possible courses include but are not limited to, Introduction to Policing, Criminal Investigation, Policing and Ethics, Homicide, Police Administration/Management, Police Related Violence, Community Policing, Cybercrime, Crime Analysis, and Human Trafficking. The applicant will teach fifteen credit hours per semester (5 classes) as well as work to grow the program through student outreach, and relationship development with police agencies and community engagement. Other expectations include career advising, fostering connections with community organizations, supporting student recruitment and retention efforts, and other duties as assigned. Applicants must have a minimum of an MS in Criminology and/or Criminal Justice or a related field (e.g., J.D. with law enforcement experience). The successful candidate will present evidence of potential for excellence in teaching and community outreach.
