Primary Purpose of Position:  The Clinical Practices Coordinator will serve as an integral part of the SOE and EPP. Our unit supports over 30 initial licensure programs that include clinical practice. Recruiting and retaining top scholars will increase our enrollment and retention metrics. This position will be instrumental in supporting hundreds of interns annually. Each semester, the SOE/EPP supports over 100 students during their clinical practice & internship leading to initial licensure. The USDOE and NCDPI have mandated an increased number of requirements surrounding how we monitor, support and report student teachers and interns.

Job Description:  

· Serve as a University Supervisor including:

Observe classroom practice and gather data; quickly assess strengths/weaknesses and use observation data gathering to tailor support to teachers.

· Design large and small group professional development including edTPA support (face to face and online).

· Provide a variety of solutions to help teachers improve their practice and therefore student achievement (modeling, co-teaching, providing human/other resources, etc.)

· Build positive culture within network of teachers in the region.

· Develop knowledge of regional and LEA resources along with the Educator Engagement and Student Success office.

Minimum Training and Experience Requirements:  

• Master’s Degree and current NC teaching license required.
• Minimum of two years teaching experience leading diverse groups of students to achieve ambitious outcomes.
• A strong record of measurable results in as a classroom teacher in a low-performing school.
• A strong record of leading adult professional development (e.g. as a workshop facilitator, mentor teacher, etc.).
• A passion for teaching and for education and a belief that this program, the new teachers, and students will be highly successful.
