The Dental Hygiene Clinical Coordinator is assigned a range of administrative/coordinating/teaching responsibilities to assist the Program Coordinator in the fulfillment of the goals and outcomes of the program.

Minimum Education/Training/Experience

·Bachelor’s degree or higher in Dental Hygiene or a related field.
·Graduate from a CODA accredited Dental Hygiene Program.
·At least 3 years’ work experience as a Registered Dental Hygienist and/or as an instructor in a CODA accredited Dental Hygiene program.

Preferred Education/Training/Experience

·Master’s or Doctorate degree in Dental Hygiene, Education or related area.
·Two years as a full-time instructor in a CODA accredited program.

Minimum Knowledge & Skills

·Communicate effectively in written and oral communication.
·Knowledgeable in instruction, evaluation, and academic advising.
·Technology literate.
·Detailed knowledge of material in the specific course and program area: clinical dental hygiene, radiology, and dental hygiene sciences.

Preferred Knowledge & Skills

· Principles and practices of teaching.
·Knowledge of student engagement techniques.
·Leadership skills in professional education setting.
· Proficient in curriculum development, supervision, instruction, evaluation, and academic advising.

Job Duties

·The primary responsibility of the first-year clinical coordinator is curriculum design, instruction, clinical evaluation, and advisement of first-year dental hygiene students.
·Create and correlate clinical and didactic instruction and education using approved curriculum format.
·Use of computer software to support program and clinical operations including Microsoft word, SharePoint, Excel, D2L Brightspace (online learning management) and Patterson Eaglesoft.
·Evaluate and track students’ performance and progress in attaining goals and objectives.
·Maintain detailed student records for clinical achievement.
·Grade all course work in a timely manner.
·Meet with students, other faculty, staff, and the program coordinator regularly.
·Prepare and maintain all required documentation and administrative reports.
·Regularly evaluate and revise curriculum, clinic manuals and forms.
·Lead first year clinic faculty calibration meetings.
·Maintain required student advisement hours and provide student advising.
·Work collaboratively with faculty within discipline to establish, measure and evaluate program student learning outcomes for continuous student improvement and success.
·Assist the program coordinator in general duties related to program operation and maintenance of accreditation.
·Participate in professional development, college events and departmental training to maintain current knowledge of professional discipline and support the role.
·Responsible for other reasonable related duties as assigned.

Licensing/Certification Requirements

·Active, Unencumbered Dental Hygiene License from the Texas State Dental Board of Dental Examiners, or ability to obtain license.
·BLS for Healthcare providers certification.

Physical Requirements

·Must be able to stoop, bend, and lift up to 25 pounds.
·Position may include limited evening or weekend hours.
·Proof of immunizations and negative TB screening are required upon hire.
