Lecturer position in Biology

Indiana University Department of Biology

The Department of Biology in the College of Arts and Sciences at Indiana University invites applications for a full-time non-tenure track Lecturer position to teach an experiential research course as part of its innovative Arts + Sciences Undergraduate Research Experience program (ASURE, https://college.indiana.edu/academics/opportunities/asure/index.html). ASURE merges the teaching and research missions of the university by engaging first-year undergraduates in research.  Although a candidate with research expertise in Eukaryotic Molecular and Cellular Biology is preferred, candidates with other research backgrounds may also be considered. Additional responsibilities will include teaching introductory and/or upper-level undergraduate courses that serve students in the Biology, Microbiology, and Biotechnology programs. Start date is Fall 2024.

A Ph.D. in Biological Sciences is required. Postdoctoral training or teaching experience is strongly preferred, but not required. Candidates should have strong communication and organizational skills, and documented evidence of classroom and/or laboratory teaching ability. Evidence of experience in research-based pedagogy is a plus. Salary is commensurate with experience and full benefits are included. The initial appointments are for three years. This is intended to be a long-term position and there is a promotion track, through the rank of Senior Lecturer, followed by Teaching Professor.

To apply, please submit (1) a cover letter describing your experience, educational background, and reasons for interest in the position; (2) curriculum vitae; (3) evidence of teaching ability; (4) a statement of teaching philosophy, (5) a diversity statement (1-2 pages with information and specific examples of past, present and future contributions to promoting equity, inclusion and diversity in your professional career), and (6) the names and contact information for three letters of references. Application materials may be submitted via (https://indiana.peopleadmin.com/postings/22227). Questions about the position should be addressed to Pranav Danthi (bioact@indiana.edu). Review of applications will begin February 15, 2024. The search will remain open until the position is filled.

The College of Arts and Sciences is committed to building and supporting a diverse, inclusive, and equitable community of students and scholars.
