Position Summary: Washburn University’s Allied Health Department offers nationally accredited programs and offerings at multiple levels including associate, bachelor, and master’s degrees. The Respiratory Therapy Program Director/Lecturer position has an anticipated start date of July 1, 2024, and is a 12-month full-time position. The date of conversion to tenure track will be determined based upon the applicant’s qualifications at the time of hire.

Essential Functions:
• Administration of the Respiratory Therapy program, including RT accreditation requirements and supervising adjunct faculty.
• Teach 12 credit hours per semester or a full workload as defined by the faculty handbook.
• Teach and develop Allied Health Department courses in assigned modalities (e.g., face-to-face, online, hybrid, Zoom, etc.).
• Advise students, maintain office hours in accordance with SAS and university policy, attend meetings, and engage in service activities in the Allied Health Department, the School of Applied Studies, the University, the profession, and the community.
• Upon conversion to tenure track line, must fulfill expectations associated with a tenure-track appointment for teaching, service, and scholarship.
• Must hold and maintain a valid Registered Respiratory Therapy (RRT) credential and current Kansas license.

Required Qualifications:
• A bachelor's degree from an academic institution accredited by an institutional accrediting agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education (USDE).
• Minimum of four years of experience as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) with at least two years in clinical respiratory care.
• Minimum of two years of experience teaching either as an appointed faculty member in a CoARC-accredited respiratory care program or as a clinical instructor/preceptor for students of such programs.
• The selected candidate will have a demonstrated commitment to pursuing teaching excellence, including the development of inclusive teaching practices that engage students from diverse backgrounds.
• Must hold and maintain a valid Registered Respiratory Therapy (RRT) credential and current Kansas license; or candidates with a valid RRT credential who are eligible for a Kansas license will be considered. Kansas license must be obtained by May 17, 2024. (Updated 1/26/2024)
• Official transcripts will be required at the time of hire.

Preferred Qualifications:
• A master’s degree in a healthcare or closely related field.
• Post-master’s credit hours in healthcare or a closely related field
• Experience in curriculum development, supervision, instruction, evaluation, and academic advising.
• Experience in program planning and assessment such as CoARC accreditation and NBRC credentialing.
• Proven effective organizational and interpersonal skills
