Information Technology Services (ITS) at Tarleton State University is a business value-driven, collaborative, client-focused, well-connected team looking to elevate and expand our services to meet the needs and goals of the University. Our department is looking for a diverse talented Business Relationship Manager (BRM) supporting the Division of Enrollment Management and Office of the Registrar to actively partner with our team and other business peers to identify, lead, develop, and advance business objectives contributing to the overall success of the University.

Under the direction of the Deputy Chief Information Officer, the BRM will serve as a single point of contact working to converge functions of IT, Enrollment Management, and the Registrar. The incumbent will serve as a liaison between IT and department stakeholders, optimizing business value, establishing communication processes, engaging with clients, evaluating project efforts, building, and developing relationships and partnerships, and managing escalation and risk.

About the Role:

We are seeking a BRM who is ready to commit wholeheartedly – dedicating and investing time in shaping business demand into supply by partnering with appropriate resources to facilitate the creation of idea documents, business cases, and value plans, ensuring value optimization and communication, and enabling continuous improvement in all areas and people around them.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Strategic Partnering & Strategy
    • Develops and maintains multi-year business capability roadmaps.
    • Advances business performance by coaching business unit customers and enabling them to articulate their functions.
    • Engages as a project/program stakeholder, evaluating project efforts and progress against joint strategic plans and objectives.
    • Focuses on business value rather than solutions to develop ideas, digital awareness, risk assessments, business continuity, and business capability requirements.
  • Partnership and Relationship Management
    • Leads as the strategic interface between the BRM’s function and business partner to stimulate, surface, and shape business demand.
    • Educates business partners about processes, roles, and capabilities.
    • Establishes communication processes and channels across business functions.
    • Optimizes business value through consultancy, business case development, and financial awareness, and manages expectations.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in applicable field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 6 years of related experience.

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Effective communication skills, ability to listen, build rapport, and credibility as a strategic partner.
  • Strong problem-solving and conflict-resolution skills to achieve win-win outcomes at all levels.
  • Strong leadership skills, ability to set expectations with business partners, influence and break down silos within an organization and accept ownership.
  • Solid understanding of Information Technology and finance assets and capabilities.

 

Preferred Requirements:

  • Experience with Ellucian Banner Student/Financial Aid, Ellucian Experience, DegreeWorks, Self-Service Banner 8/9.
  • Experience with academic ERP Systems, including student information systems support.
  • Some knowledge of SQL for general troubleshooting.
