Description

The Dell Medical School at The University of Texas at Austin, in conjunction with the Seton Healthcare Family, is seeking a board certified/eligible psychiatrist and exceptional leader to serve as the Program Director of the Adult Residency Program in the Department of Psychiatry. The Program Director will play an integral role in helping the Department build a nationally-recognized training model for innovative, valued-based mental health care delivery and illness prevention with an emphasis on vulnerable persons and those suffering health disparities. We seek a physician who will work with our community partners to participate in clinical and educational work that revolutionize how people get and stay mentally healthy in Central Texas and beyond.

Our department leads psychiatry education for the Dell Medical School and its post-graduate programs train mental health professionals to become 21st-century leaders in the fields of psychiatry and psychology. Clinical services provide informed, evidence-based care for individuals and families in multiple general medical and specialty behavioral health settings with an active and strong presence in community settings. Importantly, the Department is leading efforts at the University of Texas-Austin to execute cutting-edge basic and clinical research that illuminates the underlying neurobiological causes of psychiatric disorders and identifies novel treatments for psychiatric disorders.

To help us achieve these goals, we seek candidates who are committed to providing care within a growing community and have a strong record of providing exemplary care and treatment that restores hope, and helps patients live healthier, fuller lives. A clinical assignment will occur through our department's collaboration with Seton Healthcare Family to provide consultation, initial evaluations and follow-up treatment for individuals struggling with mental health in a collaborative, multi-disciplinary and team-oriented approach.
