Job Description

Nevada State University invites applications for the position of Content Specialist to join the team in the Office of Marketing & Events in the Division of Advancement. The Content Specialist will develop, edit, coordinate, and curate high-volume content to support marketing activities and collateral. As a strategic communicator, the Content Specialist will collaborate with team members and use all tools at their disposal to leverage and enhance the power and visibility of the university to achieve transformative change and enhance the brand to the greater community and target audiences. The Content Specialist is confident and detail-oriented in developing targeted messages as well as mapping out strategic messaging pathways that inform and inspire action on the university's degrees, programs, and people.

Core Responsibilities:
  • Establish voice, tone, and style guidelines for all brand content.
  • Collaborate with the creative, marketing, and design teams to define content goals.
  • Research and develop content strategies to effectively reach the desired target audience and marketing goals.
  • Create content for a variety of platforms including brochures, blogs, websites, and social media.
  • Proofread and edit content before publishing.
  • Collaborate with the internal team to ensure the timely delivery of assignments.
  • Write high-quality, detailed, and data-supported content documents that are presented to senior executives and key constituencies.
  • Maintain, refresh, and continuously improve the content on the website, including student & alumni testimonials.
  • Track content and audience analytics; prepare reports and recommendations to improve the university's message and reach.

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in English, journalism, marketing, communications, digital media, or related field.
  • Minimum of 2 years in content creation, marketing, communications, or similar/related field.
  • Proficient in the use of content management systems (WordPress, Drupal) to post, edit, and publish online content.
  • Excellent technical knowledge to understand software applications (Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Creative Suite), internet usage, and social media.
  • Eligibility to work in the United States without sponsorship (Nevada State does not sponsor employment-related visas).

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Excellent computer skills with MS Office.
  • Strong understanding of content practices such as SEO, SMO, and PPC.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • The ability to keep abreast of content and consumer trends and advancements in technology.

Salary & Benefits

Budgeted salary for this position is $52,500.00. Nevada State University offers excellent benefits, including 17.50% retirement match, 24 annual leave days, beginning balance of 30 sick leave days, 12 paid holidays, educational benefits, and three health insurance plans that can be supplemented with flexible spending accounts or health savings accounts.
