Job Details

The New York University Silver School of Social Work (SSSW) invites applications for a full-time professor faculty position. The 9-month tenured appointment will begin September 1, 2024.

Expertise in the following substantive areas is preferred, but not required: aging, racism and inequality, poverty, substance use and misuse, integrated health care, social determinants of health and health equity, vulnerable children and families, child welfare, school social work and the health and well-being of historically marginalized groups. Candidates with methodological and analytical skills in areas of strength and growth at SSSW (e.g., intervention science, implementation science, community-based participatory methods, data science and prevention, digital social work), and those with expertise in practice working with diverse populations are preferred.

In compliance with NYC’s Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is $175,000 - $275,000. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer.

Qualifications

A doctoral degree in social work or a related field is required, along with an outstanding record of scholarship, including a well-conceptualized research agenda, evidence of extramural funding, and publications in peer-reviewed venues. In addition to conducting research, the successful candidate will teach in the School’s academic programs (BSW, MSW, PhD, and/or DSW), and be fully engaged in professional service and leadership at the SSSW and New York University (NYU). Applicants should exhibit a commitment to social and economic justice and possess an ability to facilitate conversations concerning privilege, oppression, and intersecting social identities.
