The Institute for Translational Medicine and Therapeutics at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seeks several candidates for a Research Associate position in the Academic Support Staff. This appointment will be initially for one (1) year and continuation during that time period and renewal are based on satisfactory performance and availability of funding (limited to three (3) years). Expertise is required in the specific area of Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Bioinformatics, Sequence Analysis, and Programming in R and Python. Must have a minimum of 4 years experience in the field with demonstrated publication record. Applicants must have a Ph.D. degree.

Responsibilities may include engaging in bioinformatics research projects in biomedicine, both collaboratively and as a lead scientist. To perform data analysis and methods development. Direct team projects and mentor junior members of the lab. Writing and submitting research grants, at the PI and co-PI level as well as collaboratively with other Penn researchers.

The successful applicant will have an opportunity to write papers, attend conferences, and develop and advance in his/her academic career toward independence and faculty status.
