Advertised Pay: $50,000

Campus Location: Washburn Tech

Position Summary: The Work-Based Learning (WBL) Coordinator will assist the office with expanding and improving employer connections to increase work-based learning opportunities and other industry partnerships. The WBL Coordinator is responsible for connecting, supervising, and reporting on student achievement in work-based learning opportunities. They will work with instructors and members of the campus community to facilitate all work-based learning opportunities including campus career fairs, campus industry speakers, job shadowing, mock interviews, internships, and other work-based learning activities. The Work-Based Learning Coordinator will advise students throughout the placement process and serve as the point of contact for all inquiries about WBL opportunities.

Essential Functions:
• Works with faculty and staff in supporting the integration between classroom learning and work-based learning.
• Provides work-based learning training and workshops for instructors, administrators, students, and staff.
• Serves as a liaison between students, instructors, and employers regarding administrative and operating requirements for the work-based learning program.
• Functions as the primary contact for employers, manages student work-based learning opportunities, and conducts site visits.
• Works with the supervisor to recruit employers and to identify industry partners for work-based learning activities.
• Markets work-based learning opportunities to prospective students in collaboration with overall campus marketing efforts and individuals. Participates and/or organizes campus resource days, career fairs, and other learning activities. Utilizes technology to promote work-based learning.
• Meets with students to assist them in the work-based learning process. Promotes the development of employment skills. Advises students on procedures throughout the semester.
• Processes work-based learning paperwork and maintains complete student records and documentation in compliance with university and state regulations.
• Utilizes work-based learning software in monitoring, assessing and collecting data. Assists with designing assessment instruments. Monitors and records student, instructor, and employer contact.
• Maintains a database of and approves work-based learning sites.
• Participates in professional development training. Stays current on software applications, assessment tools, and methods to best meet the mission of the program.
• Utilizes resources such as the National Association of Employers (NACE)/NACE Center for Career Development and Talent Acquisition and the Work-Based Learning Tool Kit ( to support the coordination of program goals, learning outcomes, and assessment measures for work-based learning and career development.
• Performs additional job-related duties as assigned or as appropriate.

Required Qualifications:
• Post-secondary degree plus relevant experience equivalent to five years.
• Demonstrated effective interpersonal, communication, professionalism, customer service, organizational, time management, and computer, skills
• Proven ability to exhibit effective independent judgment, decision-making and initiative to resolve challenges.

Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience planning programs and events
• Knowledge of current best practices in the job search process, job market trends, and local employment opportunities/demands
• At least two years of experience working with students or job seekers in a college or career coaching or workforce development position

Full time Exempt Mon-Fri 7:30am - 4:30pm
