Position Summary

The Louise McBee Institute of Higher Education at the University of Georgia invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor position to begin August 1, 2024.

The successful candidate will be expected to teach core graduate-level courses, advise and mentor doctoral students in their studies and research, develop an emerging national reputation in their research field, pursue an active program of funded research, and participate fully in the ongoing academic and governance activities of the McBee Institute.

We seek candidates who will advance the multidisciplinary character of the Institute, add to the depth of the faculty, and bring innovative perspectives to the study of higher education.

Minimum Qualifications

Candidates must have a doctoral degree in higher education or an equivalent terminal degree in a complementary field (e.g., economics, management, political science, public policy, sociology).

Additional Requirements

Candidates must have a record of scholarship and research productivity commensurate with the rank of assistant professor at the University of Georgia.

Demonstrated mastery of quantitative research, as evidenced by candidate’s cumulative research portfolio, is required for this position.

Relevant/Preferred Education, Experience, Licensure, and/or Certification

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies

Preference will be given to candidates who have:
  • Topical research interest and expertise in one or more of the following: student access, success and outcomes; institutional effectiveness; and state and federal policy;
  • Expertise and evidence of effectiveness in teaching and mentoring graduate students;
  • Demonstrated capability and willingness to teach quantitative research methods courses;
  • Evidence of and potential for attracting external funding.
