This is a full-time, nine-month, tenure-track faculty position responsible for contributing significantly to Stephen F. Austin State University's undergraduate and/or graduate programs through teaching, scholarship/creative accomplishment, and service. Works under minimal supervision, with extensive latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. Reports to the chair.

The Arthur Temple College of Forestry and Agriculture seeks candidates for an assistant professor of Geospatial Science. This is a nine-month, tenure-track appointment. The successful candidate will contribute to instruction at the Bachelor of Science in Geospatial Science, Master of Science and Doctor of Philosophy levels in his or her specific area(s) of expertise. Candidates with the appropriate background to teach World Regional Geography, Physical Geography, Cultural Geography, and Weather and Climate will be given strong consideration. Candidates with the skills to also teach upper division hands-on software-based Geospatial Science courses including drone applications and land surveying are preferred. Opportunities exist to create additional undergraduate and graduate courses in the incumbent's area of expertise.

The incumbent is expected to develop a successful research program in Geospatial Science. Collaboration is critical for transdisciplinary work that addresses Geography, Natural Resources, and Forest Ecosystems from multiple perspectives. Obtaining extramural research funding, mentoring graduate students, and publishing results in peer-reviewed journals is expected. The incumbent is expected to collaborate with professionals and scientists outside the college. Successful applicants will provide outreach and service to the college, the university, the geospatial community, and the communities of Texas.

The ideal candidate will have a Ph.D. in Geospatial Science or a closely related field. Additional educational background within the general disciplines of Natural Resources Management or Forestry is preferred. The terminal degree must be completed prior to the date of employment; ABD candidates are encouraged to apply.
