The Clinical Psychology Program at Vanderbilt University in the Department of Psychology of the College of Arts & Science invites applications for a tenure track position as an Assistant Professor in Clinical Psychology. The Vanderbilt Clinical Psychology Program is internationally recognized for its strength in experimental psychopathology, affective science, intervention research, and clinical neuroscience. We seek an exceptional individual who has a strong record of creative, methodologically rigorous and conceptually driven research, who has clear potential for obtaining extramural funding, and who has demonstrated the potential for effective teaching.  We seek candidates who will also increase the department’s commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion through their research, teaching, mentoring and/or lived experience. Although individuals from all areas of adult clinical psychology will be considered, we are particularly interested in scientists who specialize in behavioral genomics, socio-neurobiological contributors to psychopathology, or substance use/addiction research. A Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from an APA and/or PCSAS-accredited clinical program is required and completion of an APA-accredited internship is preferred but not required.

We have strong collaborative relations with the Department of Psychology and Human Development at Peabody College and with the Department of Psychiatry and other departments affiliated with the Vanderbilt University Medical Center. Institutional resources are outstanding and include the Vanderbilt Brain Institute, the Academic Computing Center for Research & Education, Vanderbilt Institute of Imaging Science, Vanderbilt Institute of Nanoscale Science & Engineering, the Data Science Institute and the Vanderbilt Kennedy Center for Research on Human Development. For information about the faculty, department, and interdisciplinary opportunities, please see

Vanderbilt University has a strong institutional commitment to recruiting and retaining an academically and culturally diverse community of faculty. Minorities, women, individuals with disabilities, and members of other underrepresented groups, in particular, are encouraged to apply.

Applicants should submit a cover letter, curriculum vitae, up to three representative publications, a statement of research and teaching interests, teaching evaluations if available, and at least three letters of reference electronically via Interfolio [ ].
