The Florida State University (FSU) School of Dance (SoD) is seeking a new colleague to join our well-established dance program. FSU SoD is looking for an experienced artist with a strong professional profile in choreography, studio practice, and mentoring to join the prestigious FSU faculty. Responsibilities include graduate and undergraduate coursework, student mentoring and advising, as well as professional service at the departmental, college, and university levels. Additionally, the new colleague will be expected to maintain a consistent agenda of research and/or creative activity and engage in ongoing professional development in their area of expertise, leading to recognition in their area. The candidate should have extensive knowledge of the dance field, with knowledge of its history, lineages, and current practices. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated teaching ability and experience in one or more contemporary techniques and other studio and performance practices. The ability to teach graduate-level choreography classes and a rigorous studio practice is essential to the position, as is a collegial approach to facilitating creative and critical learning. Encouraging fluidity across the domains involved in dance as art is a priority in our program. A doctoral degree from an accredited institution or the highest degree appropriate in the field of specialization with a demonstrated record of achievement in teaching, academic research, and service is required.

This nine-month, full-time, tenure-track position begins in August 2024.
