Job Summary
The selected candidate will coordinate and provide specialized support for all aspects of research contracts & grants administration to the department and the Auburn Cyber Research Center ( ACRC ) housed in the department, including becoming knowledgeable about the university’s processes/procedures and sponsor requirements, identification of funding opportunities, proposal development support, submission, award review, accounting, award management, and reporting. The selected candidate will work closely with the department’s chair, accountant, other staff, and the director of its research center.
Essential Functions
Serve as the primary Point-of-Contact for all proposals from the department. Stay current with knowledge about electronic research administration, internal processes and procedures, award management, and requirements of sponsors/agencies to which department faculty submit proposals.
Provide pre-award support to the department and its research center for projects including: identify and promote research opportunities to faculty; proposal preparation support; review documentation for compliance with university, legal, and cost accounting standards, sponsor requirements, and other guidelines; budget development; and submission for approvals.
Provide post-award support to the department and its research center for projects including: Assist in the administrative management of contract and grant awards – indirect cost distributions, change orders, time extensions, budget re-allocations, etc. Monitor accounts from inception to close-out. Alert PIs of any areas of concern and help resolve them. Process and approve contract and grant related documents. Assist with the acquisition, management, and reporting for sponsor funded equipment and materials. Prepare and submit financial transactions. Manage personnel hiring, assignments, effort allocation, effort certification, and salaries on project accounts. Process post award changes for grants and contracts. Coordinate the execution of contract and grants terms and conditions, such as timesheets for labor-hour contracts. Generate monthly project account reports.
Assist the ACRC director in coordinating faculty participation in research activities and contract/grant/project accounts management.
Work closely with the department’s staff and administration, and as the liaison between the department and college/university staff/offices and sponsors in performing the above duties.
Engage in professional training & development, and assist in training other employees as needed. Handle other tasks consistent with the job as assigned by the department chair and as requested by faculty and other staff.

Desired Qualifications
Master’s degree in in Business Administration, Management, Finance, Accounting, or a relevant field. Knowledge/experience in: reading and interpreting requests for proposals and government grant policies/regulations; contract and grant proposal development; sponsored program administration; the management of research project contracts and grants; working with faculty and personnel within a higher education. Fluency with Microsoft Office applications such as Excel and Word.
