Located in Greater Boston, MassBay is a comprehensive, open-access community college offering associate degrees and certificate programs on three campuses in Wellesley Hills, Framingham, and Ashland, Massachusetts.

Position Summary:

The ideal candidate will join a vibrant and inclusive educational community and have a desire and ability to work with a diverse population. This is a part-time, non-unit position with no benefits.

The grant funded Cyber Range Training Instructor will provide training on cybersecurity concepts to trainees to ensure they have the knowledge and skills necessary to monitor and identify security threats, protect, maintain, and secure a network infrastructure. Develop, implement, and maintain a cybersecurity training program to measurably improve security and awareness; evaluate training materials and resources to ensure training objectives have been met. The Cyber Range Training Instructor will work closely with MassBay faculty and curriculum developer, Cyber Range Manager, and the Cyber Range platform provider.

Key Responsibilities and Duties:
  • Deliver classroom and virtual cyber range training to a variety of technical audiences;
  • Offer hands-on training to employees of small businesses, municipalities, and none-profits about a variety of cybersecurity topics, such as security awareness, identifying threats and vulnerabilities, AC, SIEM, end-point security, as well as protection and prevention methods;
  • Facilitate training using approved materials to comprehensively cover the training material without significant variation to ensure a consistent trainee experience;
  • Coach participants through lab exercises and troubleshoot any issues that arise;
  • Assist in the planning and content of exercises;
  • Assist with or integrating new security technologies into the cyber range infrastructure.

Required Qualifications:
  • Education and/or experience equivalent to a bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, information security, or a related field;
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience in cybersecurity and/or information technology;
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity principles, best practices, standards, emerging threats, and countermeasures;
  • Technical skills such as: SIEM and log management tools, Firewalls, Windows server, desktop, and Active Directory administration, Linux system administration, in-depth knowledge of network protocols, basic skills in scripting;
  • Knowledge of MITRE ATT&CK and NIST/NICE frameworks;
  • Ability to present information and deliver training to groups with varying levels of technical expertise;
  • Knowledge of adult learning theory and training methodologies with the ability to teach adult learners;
  • Ability to develop training materials and resources;
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, including the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical users.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Sensitivity and commitment to the goals of Affirmative Action and workforce diversity;
  • Experience working in a diverse environment;
  • Demonstrated commitment to working with underserved students;
  • Relevant industry certifications such as CompTIA Security+, CEH, CISM, or CISSP;
  • Experience in a K-12 environment or other educational institution.
Additional Information:

Salary Range: $65 per hour

Position Type: Part Time Employee
