Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM; Schedule will vary according to department needs; occasional early morning, evening, and weekend hours.

About the Position:

Housing and Residential Engagement provides residence hall and apartment style living for approximately 2,000 students that is safe, clean, and very convenient. We are seeking an exceptional individual to join our team as the Associate Director, Residential Engagement (Administrator I). The ideal candidate in this role should have a positive attitude, an active, energetic mind, and a leadership style that is characterized by highly ethical practices and a commitment to diversity, openness, flexibility, integrity, and kindness.

Under the general direction of the Executive Director, the Associate Director serves on the leadership team of the department sharing responsibility for servicing a residential housing program for over 2,100 students with an annual operating budget of over $36 million. The Associate Director has direct management responsibility for the development and delivery of services and programs that promote the quality of life, academic success, and personal development of over 2,100 diverse students of various class years living in 13 residential complexes, open 24 hours per day, 7 days a week. Direct responsibilities include: the recruitment, training, and supervision of 5 professional staff members and 50 paraprofessional student leaders; administration of an annual residential engagement operating budget; creation of policies and procedures in the residence hall and apartment communities; oversight student leadership recruitment and selection processes; development of theme housing and faculty-in-residence programs; administration of conduct and crisis response protocols. Serves in a 2nd-level on-call duty rotation, provides crisis intervention and emergency response, and makes referrals as appropriate. Other duties as assigned.

Essential Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university and a minimum of five years progressively responsible experience in a comprehensive Housing and Residential Engagement program or related student affairs department/unit. Ability to effectively supervise residential engagement staff and student leaders. Ability to develop, implement and monitor departmental budgets. Knowledge of housing administration and residential conduct processes including a basic understanding of residential management and student conduct software applications. Ability to independently interpret, communicate and apply policies and procedures. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.

Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment with multiple interruptions.

A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily and is required for employment. CSU will make a conditional offer of employment, which may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information, and/or it is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the continued employment of a current CSU employee who was conditionally offered the position.

Preferred Qualifications:
Master's degree from an accredited college or university. Ability to cultivate and maintain a positive and productive working atmosphere in the department. Ability to develop cooperative relationship with other University departments. Ability to develop cooperative relationships with off-campus housing resources such as vendors. Knowledge of and ability to establish workplace security and safety especially as it relates to live-on, on-call/afterhours duty procedures. Ability to work independently, plan, organize, coordinate, and perform daily and long-range activities. Exercise initiative and establish priorities. Knowledge of department and University policies and procedures in order to effectively support the operation of the department.

This position is designated as a Campus Security Authority (CSA) position under the federal Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act. CSAs are responsible for reporting allegations of Clery Act Crimes reported to them or that they witness. CSA training is required.
