The basics of this position:

The Custodial Services department strives to maintain a clean, attractive, healthy, and safe environment for faculty, staff, students, and visitors to STLCC campuses. The Custodial Services Manager has responsibility to lead, plan, and direct the custodial services and maintenance for all College facilities in such a manner as to ensure efficient and productive operations. This responsibility includes providing departmental leadership, training, interdepartmental relationship building, customer service, budget, and inventory control. The position is expected to lead and manage in adherence to board policy, administrative procedures, union joint resolutions, and departmental guidelines. Incumbents must be available 24/7 for facilities emergencies.

What you'll do:
  • • Plan and direct, working through custodial supervisors, the custodial service and maintenance of all College facilities in such a manner as to ensure efficient and productive operations.
    • Ensure and document regular inspections and assessment to maintain department standards of cleanliness, sanitation, and safety.
    • Investigate complaints/concerns regarding lack of custodial care, employee performance concerns and unacceptable behaviors, documenting and initiating corrective action as needed
    • Work with custodial supervisors to determine the need for special, non-routine custodial activities such as carpet shampooing, refinishing of floors, pest control, general overall cleaning projects, etc., and plan for the accomplishment of these activities in accordance with building occupancy.
    • Guide and give assistance to custodial supervisors and staff regarding College policies and administrative procedures, department expectations, and cleaning techniques and procedures.
    • Train and direct custodial supervisors and staff to enhance staff development and department effectiveness.
    • Manage district wide Custodial Services budget, with responsibility for supplies/materials purchases and inventory, as well as servicing and maintenance of custodial equipment,
    • Create and maintain a comprehensive cleaning program based on industry standards, including cleaning frequencies and durations.
    • Perform other related duties assigned.
Education, experience, and other requirements:

• Associate degree or equivalent and over seven (7) years of relevant full-time experience required.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent and over five (5) years of relevant full-time experience preferred.
