Central Connecticut State University invites applications to join the Institutional Advancement Department as a full-time Administrative Assistant. This is an exciting opportunity for individuals interested in providing administrative support in areas such as fundraising, donor and alumni relations.

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the day-to-day operations within Institutional Advancement. We seek applicants who are proactive, detail oriented and thrive in a dynamic environment.

About CCSU’s Institutional Advancement

The mission of Institutional Advancement Office is to enhance the mission of Central Connecticut State University through voluntary contributions from alumni, parents, non-alumni friends, corporations, foundations, and other charitable organizations. Philanthropic support is increasingly more important as traditional sources of funding decline. Institutional Advancement is responsible for an integrated, comprehensive external relations program including alumni affairs, constituent relations, community and business relations, and university development.

Position Profile

The Administrative Assistant reports directly to the Vice President of Institutional Advancement (VPIA). This role will be responsible for the VPIA’s calendar and all incoming communications. This qualified candidate will assist in writing, preparing, and producing materials for donors, alumni, and prospects including direct mail, reports, and printed and electronic materials for the President and VPIA prospect lists. This role will provide business service support to the VPIA, and support advancement services by processing expenses, budget tracking, ordering office supplies, and following all college purchasing policies and guidelines. This role will also compile confidential information and prepare presentations for meetings and events with internal and external constituents. The ability to handle high-level sensitive and confidential information covering many areas including donor information and day-to-day operations is critical.

Experience and Training:
  • Five (5) years of experience providing administrative support in an office setting
  • Experience maintaining records of expenses and budget tracking
  • Highly proficient with the use of computers, software systems, and data base management
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Demonstrated organizational skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to foster relationships with alumni, donors, faculty, staff, students, and vendors.
Ideal Candidate

Preferred
  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Experience working in at a College or University
  • Experience using Raiser’s Edge
