Case Western Reserve University, one of the nation's leading research universities, seeks a collaborative and strategic leader to serve in the inaugural role of Senior Associate Vice President, Human Resources. Located in Cleveland, Ohio, Case Western Reserve University (CWRU) is an independent private research institution with an enrollment of 6,186 undergraduate students and 6,080 graduate and professional students. CWRU holds membership in the Association of American Universities (AAU), is fully accredited by the Higher Learning Commission and by several nationally recognized professional accrediting associations. Nationally, CWRU is ranked 19th in the world for innovation and 13th for translating research into commercial success. CWRU had $542 million in research expenditures in fiscal year 2022.

The Senior Associate Vice President (SAVP) will join a community of innovators, knowledge-seekers, and groundbreakers who share a deep commitment to the institution's mission to "improve and enrich people's lives through research that capitalizes on the power of collaboration and education that dramatically engages our students." Supporting an employee base of approximately 1,110 full-time faculty and 3,047 faculty and staff, the SAVP will play a critical role in advancing the overall human capital strategy and executing the day-to-day operations that will allow CWRU to accomplish its key goals outlined by President Eric W. Kaler, namely elevating academic excellence, expanding the research enterprise, and enhancing community engagement and impact. This leader will provide executive-level guidance to university leaders on developing and implementing future-oriented HR programs that address and solve business problems and directly contribute to major long-term university objectives. Reporting to, and collaborating closely with, the Vice President, Human Resources, the SAVP will drive HR excellence and play a vital role in organizational and workforce strategic planning.

The successful candidate will possess experience leading organizational change within a complex enterprise, have a strong understanding of mission, an entrepreneurial spirit, and possess exceptional communication and leadership skills. Additionally, the leader will have demonstrated a record of identifying and executing large-scale strategic projects, possess broad and contemporary knowledge of all areas of human resources, and a record of leveraging data to make informed strategic decisions. A master's degree is required, as is a minimum of seven years of broad and progressively responsible experience in human resources. Candidates with professional human resources certifications are preferred as are candidates who possess prior higher education experience.
