About the College/Department:

The Psychology Department ( is housed in the College of Letters, Arts, and Social Sciences. The Department is the largest in the College with 22 full-time faculty members, approximately 1000 undergraduate majors, and 200 graduate students. The Department offers Bachelor's of Science degrees in Psychology and in Animal Studies. In addition, the Department offers the Master of Science degree in Industrial and Organizational Psychology, and General Psychology (with a Concentration in either Experimental Psychology or Applied Behavior Analysis), and the Doctor of Psychology (Psy.D.) degree in Clinical Psychology, as well as an Autism Spectrum Disorder Certificate (offered in cooperation with the Department of Occupational Therapy and Special Education and the Applied Behavior Analysis Certificate).

Richmond is also served by U.S. Route 25 from Southeastern Kentucky and Kentucky Route 52 from the east and west. The Bluegrass, Mountain, Daniel Boone, and Cumberland Parkways provide even greater accessibility by automobile since the city is located near the convergence of these arterial highways into the interstate system.

Job Summary/Basic Functions

The Department of Psychology at Eastern Kentucky University seeks to hire a full-time, tenure-track faculty member in Applied Behavior Analysis with a start date of August 1, 2024. Teaching assignments include both undergraduate and graduate courses and will vary based upon the expertise of the candidate and programmatic needs, but may include Introduction to Learning and Applied Behavior Analysis at the undergraduate level and graduate courses in the MS Applied Behavior Analysis program (behavioral principles, applied behavior analysis, small n research design, and applied thesis-equivalent related courses). In addition to teaching duties, applicants are expected to maintain an active program of scholarship/research; supervise applied student research in behavior analysis, contribute to the continuous improvement of the department and university through service activities (including undergraduate advising), and contribute to and support efforts to seek and maintain external accreditation for the MS Behavior Analysis Program.

The successful applicant is expected to contribute to a transition from Verified Course Sequence to Accreditation, including developing online Basic Behavior Analysis and Applied Research in Behavior Analysis (thesis-equivalent) courses and supervising thesis students. Course delivery requirements may include online, face-to-face, or hybrid formats. Master's level classes in ABA are fully online. The department teaching load is four courses per semester. Summer teaching may be available.

The Department offers numerous opportunities to mentor and supervise students at both the undergraduate and graduate levels in research and applied experiences.

Minimum Qualifications

Education: A Doctoral Degree in Psychology, Applied Behavior Analysis, or directly related field from an accredited or internationally recognized institution; and active status as a BCBA or BCBA-D.


Licensure & Certifications: Active status as a BCBA or BCBA-D

Preferred Qualifications:

Strong preference will be given to candidates who have:

1. Experience and demonstrated effectiveness in graduate and/or undergraduate teaching, with particular emphasis on and skills in teaching and supervising applied research
2. License eligibility or licensure in behavior analysis (LBA) in the state of Kentucky
3. Supervision and training experience related to BACB and licensure requirements

Additional Preferred Qualifications:
Prior knowledge of the accreditation process in behavior analysis
Administrative experience in managing MS-level applied research projects with online students.
Licensed Behavior Analyst (LBA) in Kentucky with full-time experience as an applied behavior analyst
Experience in and commitment to teaching effectiveness using in-person, hybrid, and online blended or synchronous modalities
Experience in and commitment to teaching, research, advising and/or mentoring students of diverse backgrounds and learning styles
Experience in conducting and publishing research with student involvement
