Position Summary

University Facilities Finance Department seeks an experienced accounting/finance professional to serve as the Assistant Director of Finance.

Key duties for the Assistant Director of Finance include but are not limited to:
  • Assist the Director with the management of accounting and financial operations for the department. Key areas include financial planning and analysis, general ledger, procurement, accounts payable, job costing, accounts receivable and payroll oversight.
  • Continuously implement, review and / or modify Facilities’ policies, procedure and controls to:
    • Improve efficiency, accuracy and standardization of internal financial operations, analyses and reports
    • Align and integrate budgeting, accounting, procurement and payroll functions
    • Ensure compliance with departmental, University and State policies and procedures
  • Provide leadership to a staff of approximately seven FTE . This includes:
    • Provide development opportunities, coaching and recognition to staff
    • Create and managing performance programs and evaluations
    • Ensure appropriate staffing levels and cross training to provide uninterrupted services
  • Assist the Director in identifying and implementing initiatives that lead the department and its staff towards achieving its strategic goals. This includes reviewing business systems across multiple units to identify how to improve / streamline such systems.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting or related field.

Demonstrated expertise of financial procedures and processes, cost accounting, financial planning and analysis, and generally accepted accounting principles.

Advanced knowledge with Sarbanes Oxley compliance / other internal control measures.

High proficiency with Microsoft Excel.

Excellent communication, organizational, analytical and customer service skills.
Preferred Qualifications

Masters Degree, CPA and or CMA .
