Title: Grounds & Maintenance Worker

Position Purpose:

Maintaining the grounds of all College owned properties, and performing maintenance related tasks.

Job Duties:
  • Operate all grounds maintenance related equipment.
  • Perform all grounds maintenance related tasks.
  • Perform all tasks in accordance with recognized National and College safety policies and procedures.
  • Complete all assigned work orders in a timely manner
  • Continually strive for work performance and shop procedure efficiencies.
  • Perform routine emergency response “on call” duty with distance restrictions.
  • This position may be considered “Essential Personnel” in the event that an emergency occurs on the Bates campus, or in the nearby vicinity that would impact students and staff.
Minimum Qualifications:

Education
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
Experience
  • 2 years of experience.
  • Must have valid Maine driver’s license.
Skills and Knowledge
  • Basic math and computer skills.
  • Ability to logically trouble-shoot equipment problems.
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions in the conduct of the job.
  • Establish and maintain working relationships with supervisors, co-workers and outside contacts.
  • Ability and willingness to work weekends, evenings, on-call and other non-traditional schedules.
