Alvernia University’s School of Engineering invites applications for an Industrial Engineering faculty position at the Assistant Professor of Practice level to start in the Spring, Summer, or Fall of 2024. The successful candidate will also direct the Master of Science in Engineering Management as part of the position. Successful candidates will (1) hold an MS or Ph.D. degree in Industrial Engineering, Engineering Management, or a related discipline by their start date, (2) demonstrate the potential to educate and mentor students, and (3) have a commitment to undergraduate and graduate education.

 

The successful candidate will teach undergraduate and graduate-level courses in Engineering Management, Industrial Engineering, and general Engineering; advise and mentor students; and perform service at the Department, College, and University levels. Additionally, for the Engineering Management program, they will develop curriculum and courses, hire and manage adjunct faculty, ensure the quality of the program, and help prepare for and then maintain accreditation. The candidate will become an integral part of expanding the undergraduate and graduate offerings of the School of Engineering over the next several years.

 

Expertise and focus on Industry 4.0, operations research, robotics, quality engineering, manufacturing, and/or biomedical applications is preferred but not required. This position will be heavily focused on teaching and service. The position is located in Reading, Pennsylvania, and is not eligible for remote work. This position is not eligible for tenure but is eligible for promotion. For purposes of pay scale, this position will follow the directives of the “Professional Specialist” designation, as outlined in the faculty handbook.
