The Department of Political Science at the University of California, Riverside, invites
applications for a Professor of Teaching (also referred to within the University of California
system as “Lecturer with (Potential) Security of Employment”). Professors of Teaching are full
members of the academic senate and are eligible for Security of Employment, analogous to
tenure. The search is inviting applicants at all levels: assistant (potential security of employment;
analogous to pre-tenure), associate, and full rank (both with security of employment; analogous

research and teaching experience in the following areas: American and/or comparative mass
political behavior, comparative institutions, race and ethnic politics, and scholars whose work
focuses on Asia or the Middle East.
The successful candidate should be committed to excellence in undergraduate and graduate
education and have a record or promise of research publication. The candidate should also be
committed to advancing a climate that embraces inclusion and diversity, with a commitment to
teaching and mentoring that will enhance the work of the department and support a diverse
