Position Overview
Starting Salary Range is $48,770 - $56,087. The initial salary offer is commensurate with education and related work experience.

Facilitate and develop external strategic initiatives that raise the profile of the college throughout the service area, foster new community engagement opportunities, and create positive stakeholder experiences with the Lee College brand. Serve as the Spirit Coach to provide motivation, training, and supervision of the students serving as the college mascot. The incumbent cultivates engaging collegiate experiences for students and campus visitors through interactions with the mascot and representing the institution in a manner that builds positive branding in surrounding communities.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Community Engagement
  • Lead community engagement and initiatives of the college to increase the regard and appreciation of the institution, its history, and its influence on the region.
  • Provide leadership for public and special events planning and execution including logistical details, procurement of materials and equipment through standard college operations, solicitation of employee and student volunteers as needed.
  • Work collaboratively with internal colleagues and external peers and/or stakeholders representing the college and community at the highest level.
  • Develop an annual budget for community engagement in collaboration with the executive director of marketing and public affairs.
Spirit Coach
  • Coach and motivate the mascot(s) through proper training with regular meetings and practices. Commits entirely to assigned schedule for Navigator appearances on and off campus.
  • Develop and establish procedures to ensure that the mascot(s) scheduled performances are conducted in a timely manner with performer in character and ready to appear.
  • Establishes and maintains standards of behavior and provides proper coaching for improvement by creating/updating policy and procedures manual.
  • Maintains Navigator costume care, including cleaning and required maintenance.
  • Create, advertise, and conduct auditions as needed in order to maintain an active group of students to serve as mascots.

Minimum Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Associate's (or higher) degree or five (5) years of demonstrated success in spirit squad coaching, community affairs, public relations, or other highly relevant experience in lieu of a degree
  • Three (3) years of related experience
  • Excellent logistic and planning skills with the ability to successfully manage multiple and/or overlapping projects simultaneously
  • Knowledge of teaching, coaching, and current trends in mascot management
  • Current cheerleading coaching certification through the USA Cheer and/or similar professional and safety training certification
  • Critical thinking to correlate feedback from several sources with great attention to detail, identifying long and near-term goals
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, meet deadlines, follow specific instructions
  • Strong organizational, and exceptional written and verbal communication skills are essential.
