The Observational Health Data Sciences and Informatics (OHDSI) program is a global collaborative providing worldwide interdisciplinary capabilities focused on observational health data. By offering open-source solutions within an international network of databases, OHDSI's vision is “A world in which observational research produces a comprehensive understanding of health and disease,” with a mission to “improve health” and promote ”… better care.”

In 2021, Northeastern's Provost created the inaugural OHDSI Center at Northeastern University to establish new and unique capabilities associated with global collaborations in the observational health data science field. With over 3,200 individual collaborators, partnerships with 400+ organizations, and leveraging nearly a billion unique patients digital health records, the center is a global force contributing to healthcare data analysis and decision-making. Goals include founding, creating, and spinning out health-related innovation with real-world utility in life science and medicine domains. As part of a central service to Northeastern, and with industry and Northeastern faculty connections, OHDSI is also focused on achieving a broader and stronger presence for Northeastern as an academic innovation leader in health data sciences worldwide.

The Real-World Healthcare Navigator (RWHN), is a sponsored Northeastern Impact Engine, is one such innovation connected with OHDSI that aims to improve global patient outcomes. The Sr. Program Manager will report to the Director of Strategic Initiatives, also serving as the Executive in Residence, for the RWHN start-up phase. As the RWHN is directly tied to the OHDSI Center at Northeastern, there will be two aspects of this role:

RWHN Engine:
  • Serve as Program Manager, Business Operations in the context of RWHN's start-up status, requiring various entrepreneurial activities as listed in the Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities section.


OHDSI Center:
  • Management of various administrative and operational duties as required by the OHDSI Center Director and as related to the RWHN Engine as listed in the Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities section.


This is a remote position that is in the service of the Office of the Provost and the Vice Provost of Global Impact.
  • The Sr. Program Manager will be responsible for the day-to-day logistics and operations of the OHDSI Center and RWHN Impact Engine. They will be responsible for setting structure and tracking mechanisms based on the execution plan, determining where continuous improvement can be made and at what point, tracking and preparing Objectives and Key Results (OKRs) as needed, researching and recommending program-related tools that will enhance effectiveness of delivery, and manage various business-related aspects of the center and the program, such as market analytics (competitor, customer, and partner), industry trends, diagnostic and treatment pattern datasets, and support of events and communications overall.


Qualifications
  • 5 years' of relevant work experience or 2+ years of relevant work experience with an MBA and/or PMP® with a focus on business operations, program management (organization of work and tracking / communication of status), marketing / communications, market analytics and competitor analysis, technology commercialization strategies, and relationship building and management
  • Ability to quickly find solutions to problems as they come up and manage multiple stakeholder informational requests
  • Works well under pressure and isn't overwhelmed by uncertainty
  • Proven record of operating effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • Focus on continuous process improvement and operational efficiency; ability and comfort with vetting and recommending new tools and practices that may reduce wasteful activities
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills
  • Experience using software tools including Excel, MS Teams, PowerPoint, Canva, Asana and other suitable tracking, presentation, and workflow applications
  • Experience and ability to create and maintain proper file nomenclature, documentation labeling, and file organization across shared applications such as SharePoint
  • Experience in planning and managing programs and events
  • Ability to engage senior staff and stakeholders, including those in industry
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Project Management processes, strategies and methods.
  • Adept at working in a highly collaborative environment and promoting a teamwork mentality.
  • Great organizational skills with a high level of oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to problem solve, analyze and synthesize data, in addition to summarize information.

Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities

RWHN Engine:
  • Serve as Program Manager, Business Operations in the context of RWHN's start-up status, requiring various entrepreneurial activities such as:
    • competitive and brand-related market analytics
    • regulatory diligence [for health technology]
    • researching and vetting potential partnership and collaborations
    • building and enhancing brand identity and awareness
    • tracking of tasks and deliverables for a technology build
    • other program manager start-up activities

Contribute to finalization of the draft business plan, including maintenance and update standards for version controls and any pitch decks / executive presentations derived from the business plan

  • Management of various administrative and operational duties as required by the OHDSI Center Director; this includes activities such as
  • market reviews and marketing communications
  • revising overview material
  • collaborating with external vendors for strategic communications and media efforts
  • tracking the status of initiatives
  • communicating overall updates

setting up / managing OHDSI Center efforts such as the logistics for study-a-thons

Miscellaneous tasks:
  • Serve as a resource for Principle Investigators associated with the RWHN as it relates to building The Navigator
  • Collaborate with the Vice Provost - Global Impact team as part of the RWHN Engine's core team
  • Other duties as assigned

Travel to conferences and participating in other marketing opportunities as needed (3-4 times a year)
