Job Summary/Basic Function

The Department of Counseling and Human Development is seeking applications for a Temporary Full Time Faculty member to fill the position of Drug and Alcohol Specialist. The opportunity to work during summer and winter breaks for additional pay is likely if desired. Working hours/scheduling is flexible. The anticipated start date is Spring 2024.

Salary and rank are commensurate with qualifications as well as aligned with the details contained in the Collective Bargaining Agreement and the Millersville University Promotion Statement .

Minimum qualifications required to be considered for appointment at the rank of Associate include having an earned doctorate and a minimum of five years of full-time teaching experience (or its equivalent) and scholarship commensurate with this rank.

  • Copies of registrar-issued unofficial transcripts for all degrees conferred and in progress (the successful candidate will be required to provide registrar-issued official transcripts from the issuing institution(s) directly to the Provost’s Office by the start date).

Required Qualifications
  • Eligible candidates must have a bachelor’s degree and be a certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor ( CADC ) OR Certified Advanced Alcohol and Drug Counselor ( CAADC ) OR have a master’s degree and be a licensed therapist ( LPC, LMHC, LMFT, LCSW, or LSW ) with experience in the area of alcohol and other drugs ( AOD ).

  • Successful interview and case presentation.
  • Successful completion of three background checks.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Counseling with traditional college-aged populations.
  • University counseling center experience.
  • Crisis intervention experience.
