Job Description

Provide maintenance to the LSC, Sears, and Ashland Road Plant Growth Facilities on campus. Provide backup maintenance to the East Campus Plant Growth Facility as needed.

  1. Maintain/Inspect Physical Structures (10%)
  2. Inspect and maintain/repair the following: (60%)
    • environmental controllers, heating and cooling systems
    • High Intensity Light systems
    • Specialized greenhouse systems
  3. Supervision and training of student workers. (5%)
  4. Organization and record keeping. (5%)
  5. Maintain greenhouse vehicles. (5%)
  6. Growing Media Supply stocked. (5%)
  7. Autoclaving and disposal of all transgenic waste material from greenhouses, growth chambers and seed sorting/storage. Inspection of autoclave to ensure proper use and operation. Report problems requiring maintenance to supervisor. (5%)
  8. Other duties as assigned. (5%)


Shift

7:30 am - 4:30 pm. On call for emergencies, nights, weekends and holidays.

Minimum Qualifications

An Associate's degree or an equivalent combination of education and at least 1 year of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.

Preferred Qualifications

Four years of experience in general building maintenance, including heating/air conditioning, electrical, water treatment, plumbing, etc. is necessary.

A valid driver's license is required.

Employees working within this classification will be required to wear appropriate safety equipment and apparel.

Public Operator Pesticide Applicator License or willingness to obtain if hired.

Position will require occasional lifting up to 70 pounds, climbing a ladder and working in seasonally hot/humid conditions.

Anticipated Hiring Range

Salary Range: $16.23 - $28.25 per hour

Grade: GGS-007
