Department Summary
The School of Music and Dance (SOMD) has an enrollment of more than 800 music and dance majors and minors, a faculty and staff of 85, and approximately 70 graduate employees. A wide variety of undergraduate and graduate degree programs are offered, from the baccalaureate through the doctorate, including programs in dance, music performance, collaborative piano, music education, composition, theory, musicology, jazz studies, piano and string pedagogy, conducting, music technology, and music with a liberal arts emphasis. The school is known for being the only comprehensive school of music and dance in the state of Oregon. It is also home to the internationally recognized Oregon Bach Festival and ChamberMusic@Beall performance series.
SOMD presents approximately 300 concerts, performances, and events during the academic year featuring guest artists, faculty artists, and student ensembles. The incredible wealth of concert material ranges from contemporary dance to African dance, early music and classical to contemporary music, world music, and jazz.
Position Summary
The Accounting Technician works with the SOMD accounting and finance team to support the finance and operations functions of the School of Music and Dance (SOMD) and the Oregon Bach Festival (OBF). Primary responsibilities include processing invoices, contract payments, reimbursements, deposits, and payroll. This position will maintain appropriate documentation for all transactions and communicate relevant policies and procedures to faculty, staff, and students. This position will also provide backup support for purchasing, contracts, and travel.
The Accounting Technician is a part-time (20 hours per week position) that reports to the Associate Dean of Finance and Operations. This position is eligible for hybrid or flexible work schedule tailored to the requirements of the job, and with supervisor approval.
Minimum Requirements
- 12 quarter hours (8 semester hours) of Accounting courses
AND
- an Associates Degree in Accounting; OR
- One year of experience that includes entering, compiling and/or
reporting financial information; OR
- An equivalent combination of education and experience.
