    Department Summary

    University Health Services (UHS) is a unit within the Division of Student Services and Enrollment Management and is a nationally accredited (AAAHC) outpatient clinic providing primary care to students at the University of Oregon. All staff are required to uphold the values of the UHS.

    This position works in support of the University Health Services mission and vision and is consistent with UO policy. Some aspects of this position may be completed in collaboration with other University departments.

    Position Summary

    The Director of Ancillary Services plays a critical role in the mission of UHS by leading and mentoring a team to provide exceptional care for students of UO. The Director of Ancillary Services is responsible for developing and leading an integrated management team along with the responsibility of overseeing the following ancillary departments within the UHS: Physical Therapy, Laboratory, Radiology, Pharmacy, Dental, and Student Health Benefit Plan. The director is responsible for ensuring appropriate policies and procedures are in place and the Ancillary Services stay within accreditation standards for all aspects of the Ancillary Services operation. This position reports to the Executive Director for UHS and serves as a member of the Executive Leadership Team. It is essential this position supports a collaborative environment where we value team members and group thinking.

    This position requires successful completion of a criminal background check and routine screening of Medicaid and Medicare Exclusion Lists. Employee loses eligibility for employment if on the List of Excluded Individuals and Entities (LEIE) and/or System of Award Management (SAM). In addition, employees must follow Compliance with UHS policies regarding tuberculosis screening, measles and mumps (MMR), seasonal flu, hepatitis B, and other immunization requirements.

    Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a respective field.
  • Two years' supervisory and managerial experience within a healthcare setting.

  • Ability to mentor and coach managers and staff in a way that fosters independent thinking and flexibility.
  • Experience with and/or commitment to working effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds, in support of an inclusive and welcoming environment.

    Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong management experience in healthcare administration with an emphasis on management of ancillary services. Services include laboratory, radiology, pharmacy, physical therapy, dental, and health insurance.
  • Experience developing and implementing programs and improving organizational performance.
  • Experience managing a department budget.
