Ithaca College (IC), a private, liberal arts college located in the Finger Lakes region of New York State, invites nominations and applications for its next Vice President for Student Affairs and Campus Life .

Founded in 1892 by violinist W. Grant Egbert, IC had humble beginnings as a music conservatory in rented rooms in downtown Ithaca, New York. Over the ensuing decades, the institution continued to diversify its curriculum and, in 1931, the conservatory was chartered as a private college. By the 1960s and with 2,000 students, construction of IC’s modern campus began on South Hill, overlooking downtown Ithaca with breathtaking views of Cayuga Lake. Today, IC serves just under 5,000 students. They are known to be caring, committed, and collaborative with proud engagement in the college's mission: to educate, engage, and empower through theory, practice, and performance. Additionally, IC was recently named #1 for Best Undergraduate Teaching among the 178 institutions of its kind in the North, according to US. News & World Report.

Reporting directly to President La Jerne Terry Cornish , the vice president will sit on the President’s Cabinet and collaboratively develop institutional objectives, budget priorities, policies, and procedures while helping to support and execute on overarching institutional planning. The new vice president will provide leadership and strategic direction to the $14.3 million portfolio that includes more than 100 professional staff and over 450 student employees within the Division of Student Affairs and Campus Life (SACL), working collaboratively to advance the division's programs, resources, and initiatives. They will also co-lead efforts to advance the College’s goals of equity, inclusion, and belonging in concert with the Provost and Associate Vice President/Chief Human Resources Officer. Additionally, the next vice president will also oversee the development, implementation, and assessment of programs, activities, and services to enhance opportunities for student engagement, leadership, and success. The vice president co-chairs the College Emergency Response Team with the Vice President and Chief Information and Analytics Officer and will also provide support to the development and coordination of curricular and co-curricular community partnerships and activities.

The next vice president will have an earned master's degree along with deep student affairs and administrative experience at the college or university level. Additionally, the vice president will have knowledge of best practices, current issues, and future trends in education; proven ability to provide leadership in a culture that values collegial decision-making; the ability to work successfully with diverse individuals and groups; and the ability to represent the College effectively with internal and external constituencies, including parents and families. Excellent organizational, interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills are also required.
