Position Description and Qualifications

The Program in the History of Science, Medicine, and Public Health at Yale University seeks a full-time instructor. This will be a multiyear non-tenure track appointment at the rank of Lecturer (three-year term, renewable) or Senior Lecturer (up to five-year term, renewable), the latter requiring at least six years of full-time teaching experience in a tenure-track or non-tenure-track rank, a documented record of excellent teaching, evidence of new course development, pedagogical innovation, and engaged institutional service. The successful candidate will have a PhD or the equivalent in hand in any area of the history of science, medicine, technology, or public health.


The teaching expectation per semester will be two term courses plus one additional course-equivalent of effort applied to departmental service and/or advising seniors working on self-designed research projects. Preference will be given to candidates who have experience with classroom teaching and the supervision of student writing projects. Yale University is an Affirmative Action/Equal Opportunity employer.
