Reporting to the Vice President of Institutional Advancement, the AVP is charged with increasing RWU's visibility by actively building and strengthening relationships with corporate partners, the foundation/grant sector, and other key funders to support the University's immediate and long-term goals. Serving as a thought partner in advancing RWU's interests, the AVP will develop a robust and data-informed engagement strategy that broadens the constituent base and builds a pipeline of ongoing support, including identifying sources, proactively seeking opportunities for proposal development, and maintaining strong ties with corporate and foundation donors and prospects.

The ideal candidate is an accomplished relationship manager with progressively increasing achievement in corporate and foundation relations, with broad knowledge of government relations/funding; an engaging, entrepreneurial and highly motivated leader with superb communications, negotiating and organizational skills, high integrity, and professional judgement; a person of enthusiasm and initiative who can work effectively with the university community, including the VP, advancement team members, senior administrators and faculty, volunteer leaders, and sophisticated, affluent donors.



Job Requirements:

BA/BS degree in related discipline; 10+ years' relevant experience in a philanthropic and/or academic organization obtaining gifts/grants from private and corporate sectors; budget management experience in a corporate or academic environment; strong leadership skills; excellent interpersonal skills and customer-service orientation; able to work across a variety of audiences including corporations, foundations, legislators/policy makers, students, parents, alumni, faculty and staff.

At the University's discretion, the education and experience prerequisites may be excepted where the candidate can demonstrate, to the satisfaction of the University, an equivalent combination of education and experience specifically preparing the candidate for success in the position.
