The Financial Services Design Team Lead is a key leader in the Finance Transformation Program who will provide dedicated support to the Finances Service Delivery Design Project starting in April 2023. This project supports the modernization of Northeastern's Finance Service Delivery Model to optimize finance service delivery structure and leverage the features of new technologies such as Workday Financials, JAGGAER, and Adaptive Planning. This project and role will continue through implementation, which will coincide with the Workday Financials implementation, targeted to begin in October 2023 and conclude in June 2025.


Knowledge of business requirements, functional design, process design (including scenario design, flow mapping), prototyping, testing, training, defining support procedures. Highly proficient in the configuration and use of the Workday Financials suite. Strong knowledge of project management principles and practices. Deep functional expertise across finance. Strong communicator/influencer/negotiator who can extract and synthesize technical information from experts. Ability to identify and address cross functional implications within the workstream and build relationships across community. Knowledge and familiarity with Northeastern functional area stakeholders, systems, and practices. Ability to build consensus by pooling opinions, listening effectively, discussing differences, influencing, and coming to an agreement most everyone “can live with”. Ability to advise and influence senior leaders enabling them to make effective, impactful decisions. Knowledge and skills required for this job are typically acquired through the completion of a related bachelor's degree with a minimum of ten years of hands-on configuration experience with multiple modules across the Workday Financials suite (preferably in a university setting) and a track record of managing large teams and complex projects. Workday Specialty Certification such as Financial Data Model desired.


1) Project discovery and design - 45%
  • Lead stakeholder groups through an iterative design process
  • Lead the broad socialization of the design
  • Ensure the design of processes, policies, and practices will meet customer needs
  • Collaborate on Program strategy and decision making, making recommendations regarding issue escalation
  • Recommend backfill strategy and recruit Program team members
  • Support development of design implementation strategy
  • Make connections between multiple projects and initiatives to ensure teams are coordinating and collaborating

    2 ) Project implementation - 45%
  • Oversee the implementation of the design and hold project resources accountable for delivering on expectations, such as: hire and select personnel; develop and deliver training content; refine end-to-end processes; configure case management technology; support onboarding and logistical needs for staff; prepare Northeastern for future-state processes

    3) Change management - 10%
  • Provide change management and lead sponsorship of the project, engage with key stakeholders and present to campus constituents
  • Serve as visible Program champion
