Job Description

The University of Missouri Research Reactor (MURR) is seeking a Metrology Lead. This position will report to the GMP Support Services Manager and will be responsible for the development and leadership of the newly established Metrology team, as well as the overall execution of metrology function. General scope of the position and Metrology team includes scheduling, maintenance, and calibrations for the Production group and Quality Control group to ensure equipment is functioning and qualified for GMP use.

Key Duties Performed by This Position Will Include
  • Provide oversight to a team of 2 to 3 metrologists, with the intent of increasing team size as departmental scope/responsibilities increase. Organize and implement work schedules, prioritize, and dispatch personnel to critical tasks. Schedule work around Production and QC activities to minimize schedule impact.
  • Manage the planning and scheduling of calibration and maintenance, oversee the generation of calibration work notifications, and track work to completion.
  • Create and modify calibration procedures to adapt to changing cGMP environment. Revise documentation, review, and approve revisions of procedures, deviations, change controls, etc.
  • Oversee metrology related contracts with external vendors. Includes contract management, invoice reconciliation, quality of work and training oversight. Schedule vendors for onsite visits and oversee their visit to ensure quality of work and compliance to MURR's safety and GMP requirements.
  • Presides over departmental and interdepartmental meetings to plan and schedule work. Respond to internal communications to provide technical assistance for instrument repairs/calibration.
  • Create and implement new systems and processes designed to pursue excellence and drive innovative solutions to enhance and streamline operations, improve productivity and quality compliance. Drive and manage enhanced improvement initiatives directed at improving calibration measurement results and reducing measurement uncertainties.

Salary Range: $80,000 - $100,000

Grade: GGS-012

Minimum Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience, and at least 5 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary

Preferred Qualifications

Preference will be given to those with cGMP experience, leadership experience, and/or experience with laboratory or production equipment.
