Job Description:

The Senior Research Scientist at the School of Public Health is a staff position in research administration responsible for execution of research under the direction of one or more principal investigators. The incumbent will devise, formulate, and execute investigative protocols and disseminate findings through presentations and publications. The incumbent will also supervise research activities of research staff assigned to the projects and mentor students in overall research activities, manuscript writing, presentations, publications and scientific methodologies.

With this Senior Research Scientist position, we seek candidates with rigorous epidemiological methods and analytic skills to support faculty-directed grants and mentor staff and students. In particular, we seek individuals with research skills and experience involving patient, client, and community-focused approaches, including qualitative and quantitative analytic methods, survey design and development, and data exchanges with external collaborators. We have an active portfolio of substance use epidemiology, infectious disease, and intersecting epidemics.

The position will work closely with The People, Place and Health Collective in the Department of Epidemiology. The collective works directly and collaboratively with members of the community, advocates, state agencies, journalists, and policymakers to achieve measurable and meaningful community impact. Dual-Grade Posting, the grade will be determined depending on the candidate's education and experience.

Grade 12:
Doctoral Degree and 7 - 10 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience in qualitative and/or survey methods.

Grade 13:
Doctoral Degree and 8 to 12 years’ experience or equivalent combination of education and experience in qualitative and/or survey methods.

This is a fixed term position with a current end date of 1/31/2024, which may be extended based upon available funding.

This is a hybrid eligible position.
