Position Summary: The Student Success Summer Transition Coordinator will develop and implement summer programming and engagement opportunities for pre-college and current Washburn University students. These credit and non-credit experiences will support students’ access to college, academic preparation, and success. The Student Success Summer Transition Coordinator will provide students and their families with meaningful shared experiences and information to develop self-efficacy and success strategies that support students’ academic skills, success behaviors, continuous enrollment, and grade rehabilitation.

Essential Functions:
The Student Success Summer Transition Coordinator is responsible for providing a variety of services to meet the academic, career, and personal development needs of participants in a range of Washburn summer engagement programs. The Transition Coordinator will serve as a liaison between external and internal partners.

• Build pre-college summer enrichment programs, in collaboration with local schools, starting as early as 8th grade
• Particular attention will be focused on serving students who are the first in their families to go to college and/or who have limited financial resources
• Provide oversight to Washburn’s nationally recognized, award-winning bridge program: the Ichabod Success Institute
• Engage students and parents in financial literacy and financial aid planning to support college entrance and success
• Engage students in exploring a variety of career, major, and postsecondary pathways
• Collaborate with the Offices of Recruitment and Admissions to coordinate outreach to students who are interested in enrolling at Washburn
• Partner with academic areas to create summer recovery programs
• Teach a section of WU101: The Washburn Experience
• Regular travel is expected throughout the year visiting schools and community organizations, along with nontraditional working hours during Summer programs
Performs additional job-related duties as assigned or as appropriate.

Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree.
• Proven effective public speaking, interpersonal, and communication skills
• Demonstrated effective time management, organizational, and task management skills
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively with school personnel, parents, community leaders, and students
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suites (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)

Physical Requirements:
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends

Preferred Qualifications:
• Bilingual (Spanish preferred)
• Experience working with or counseling students and families from a variety of backgrounds, including first-generation and low-income students and families
• Knowledge of the educational and financial aid process
• Experience using Recruit, Slate, or similar CRM
