Job Summary

The Associate Director (AD) is responsible for ensuring that the College’s financial records are maintained in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles ( GAAP ) and in compliance with all GASB, FASB, OMB circulars, as well as other federal, state, and local statements and requirements. This requires administering and coordinating the College’s accounting system which entails having a detailed understanding of the general ledger and all subsidiaries that impact the general ledger. In addition, the position is responsible for managing and supervising the functions of the staff of the general accounting section, as well as assisting with the supervision and workflow of grants, payroll, and Bursar. This position is responsible for overseeing and controlling the workflow for all financial transactions, to ensure they are completed in accordance with any stipulated or mandated time requirements and reviewing completed work for accuracy. The Associate Director must have the ability to apply accounting principles, theories, concepts and practices to specialized, unique and complex problems. The AD is responsible for assisting with preparation of the College’s monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, as well as other financial reports executive management requires. The AD must be able to work with the auditors to facilitate the timing and completion of the year end audit. In addition, the AD must have a detailed understanding of policies and procedure and is responsible for developing and maintaining those procedures. The Associate Director will also assist the Director of Accounting as needed and act in that capacity during the Director’s absence.

Qualifications - Education

Bachelor of Science in Accounting required. CPA desired.

Qualifications - Experience

Eight years of increasing responsibilities in accounting and five years of supervisory experience preferred. Prior experience with Fund accounting desired.

Qualifications - Skills

Computer literacy and advance knowledge of spreadsheet and word programs. Experience using computerized accounting systems. Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Located on 222 acres of rolling terrain in Randolph, County College of Morris (CCM) has been meeting the educational and training needs of residents and businesses in Morris County for 50 years. The college first opened its doors to students in 1968 after Henderson Hall, the first building on campus, was completed. The first class consisted of 592 full-time and 703 part-time students.
