Empire State University seeks a full-time, bilingual Director of
Spanish Language Programs (State Title: Staff Associate) to lead
the development of SUNY's first fully online degrees taught
entirely in Spanish. The initiative is fully funded and
aligns with the mission and strategic goals of the University. SUNY
Empire is a leader in access-oriented, online education and this
historic project broadens the scope of educational programming and
services available to Spanish speakers within New York State,
across the country, and internationally.
The successful candidate will work collaboratively across the
University to align the Spanish language curricular development of
the Bachelor of Business as well as to ensure robust wrap-around
student supports in Spanish for this initial degree offering. The
Director will report to the Sr. Executive Director of International
and Extended Education and will be responsible for managing a
focused team comprised of faculty and staff to: translate all
existing web-based information and services, develop a plan for
outreach and recruitment, manage the development of Spanish
language marketing materials, develop culturally responsive support
services, and manage the day-to-day activities of the Spanish
Language Program Office. The projected start date of
instruction for the B.S. in Business Administration is Fall 2025,
pending New York State approval, with additional programming and
subject area development planned as the University builds capacity
for additional areas of study to be offered completely in

- Bilingual and biliterate in Spanish and English.
- Demonstrated competence in developing and managing
- Demonstrated ability to communicate complex messages to a
diverse audience, in Spanish and English.
- Experience developing project plans and executing on-time
deliverables in an academic setting.
- Experience developing focused outreach and development plans to
drive enrollment growth.
- Demonstrated capacity to manage multiple priorities.
- Prior knowledge of and experience in working with bilingual and
emergent bilingual learners, particularly in online settings.
- Prior experience working effectively with faculty, staff, and
students from diverse linguistic, cultural, and socioeconomic
- Experience developing and leading institution-wide
- Higher education administrative experience.
- Occasional travel may be required.
- VISA sponsorship is not available for this position.

Rank/Salary: SL4/ $80,000.
