    Department Summary
    The University of Oregon Intercollegiate Athletic Department's primary purpose is to provide a unique opportunity for student-athletes to be developed, tested, and encouraged to reach their maximum potential in every aspect of their lives. The department has approximately 250 administrative & classified employees, hosts over 600,000 spectators annually, and represents the University of Oregon in athletic competition with other universities & colleges.

    Position Summary
    This is a senior level leadership position responsible for supporting, developing, managing, and implementing diversity, equity, and inclusion strategies that promote and foster an accessible, welcoming, and affirming environment. Areas of accountability will include advocacy, education, and programming related to diversity, equity, and inclusion at the University of Oregon Athletic Department.

    Reporting directly to the Athletic Director, the Associate Athletic Director for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion will be the department's Chief Diversity Officer and will serve on the Senior Leadership team. The Associate Athletic Director for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion will assist in the development, management, and coordination of diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives department-wide for the University of Oregon Athletic Department, and will work closely with the Deputy Athletic Director/SWA on issues related to gender equity and Title IX.

    This position is responsible for the design, facilitation, and implementation of programs that align with the University of Oregon Athletic Department's commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion for staff and students. Program areas may include hiring and retaining a diverse staff, supporting gender equity, and developing educational programming for student-athletes, coaches, and staff.

    Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Five years of professional work experience in higher education, non-profit, or private sector, including the following:
    - Demonstrated communication experience regarding broad contours of diversity work
    - Experience in developing and managing diversity, equity, and inclusion plan

    Professional Competencies
  • Familiarity with Title IX
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse and marginalized communities
  • Demonstrated ability to facilitate education and training sessions and/or present training programs

    Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's Degree
  • 5 years of progressively responsible, related experience in advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion in a higher education setting
  • Student-athlete/Coaching experience
  • Experience mentoring and working with collegiate student-athletes.
  • Experience with NCAA Division I college athletics
  • Familiarity with NCAA rules and regulations
  • Diversity, equity, and inclusion committee experience at the university, department, conference, or NCAA level.
  • Familiarity with the NCAA Diversity and Inclusion efforts and goals.
