Job Description Summary / TWC Summary

The Jesse H. Jones School of Business at Texas Southern University is accepting applications for a Visiting Instructor/Visiting Assistant Professor of Finance with an emphasis in Risk Management/Personal Finance/Investments/Banking/Real Estate who is competent in instructing students. The ideal candidate will possess a graduate degree (preferably a terminal degree from a Business School) in Finance or related discipline from an AACSB -accredited university. This is a 9-month visiting position with teaching responsibilities at the undergraduate level. Courses will be assigned based on the education and/or professional qualifications.

Essential Duties Summary
  • Teach undergraduate courses in Finance/Investment/Banking/Real Estate/Insurance.
  • Enhance teaching, scholarly research, and/or professional activities to a level necessary for the maintenance of the School’s SACS and AACSB accreditation.
  • Active participation in departmental, school and university committees.
  • Service to one’s profession and the surrounding community.
  • Advise and mentor students.
  • Act as an advisor for a student club.
  • Maintain engagement with appropriate professional organizations.
  • Assist with curriculum development and licensing opportunities for students.
  • Other job-related duties as assigned.

Commensurate with experience.

Education

Graduate degree in the general finance area with a focus in one of the areas in the general finance from an AACSB -accredited university at time of hire is required. This position is renewed yearly based on performance and funding availability.

Required Licensing/Certification

Any professional license will be preferred.

Work Experience

Strong educational and corporate experience in risk management and/or real estate area is preferred.

Previous experience in the development and teaching of university curricula in the general area of finance, risk management, insurance and real estate finance is strongly preferred.
