The Art, Art History, and Film Department at Boston College invites applications for a full-time position as a tenure-track assistant professor of Studio Art with a specialization in Graphic Design or closely related fields, to begin July 2024.
We seek candidates who are artist-educators and practitioner-thinkers engaged with current national and international developments in contemporary art and design. Their work should employ digital based media with a strong emphasis on graphic design. The ideal candidate will have a background in curriculum development at the college level, and the experience to foster the digital art concentration within the Studio Art major.
The position is responsible for overseeing the Digital Art area, which is housed in the Studio Art program of the Art, Art History and Film department. The candidate will be expected to teach five courses a year and should show substantial evidence of a range of advanced graphic design skills/practices, and knowledge of design history and contemporary critical issues. In addition to teaching, we are looking for an artist with an active professional practice who can bring vision and collaborative expertise to the digital art curriculum at Boston College. They will advise and mentor undergraduates, serve on departmental committees, and help to manage department facilities. In all, we are interested in a colleague who can contribute to interdisciplinary curriculum development and enrich the Studio Art program within our vibrant liberal arts University.
